Had an amazing experience with JP Urban Moving. They helped my husband and I move into our dream apartment. We didn’t have to lift a finger all day. We had such a great team that did everything for us and packed our things so carefully and swiftly. It was such a great experience and recommend them to anyone!!
We were moving from NYC to Hawai’i into a PODs container and they helped us through the whole process. The guys were professional and always upfront with pricing. They were not the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for! They completely removed the stress of moving because you knew you were in good hands the moment they got to work.
They pre-packed everything a few days before. Left us the bed to sleep on (and packed it the day of the move). The day of the move was extremely smooth. They ensured us that everything would fit in the POD container. They had an idea of how the boxes would structurally stack the moment they started packing so they made sure the bottom boxes were most structurally sound. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

I have experienced moves in the past but nothing like All City Van Lines. The people in the office / sales department are amazing and very knowledgeable. On game day, the movers called me on their way to my home and once they arrived, they did a walk thru of my place and reassured me that my price would not change. I did request some things to be packaged by them and they did it without any issues. These guys are PRO’s and did an amazing job. All of my things arrived from Pennsylvania to Georgia within the dates I requested and everything was handled with such care and respect.
Great customer service and quick delivery. The company was great in managing the move and getting us a good deal. Would recommend it and would use them again without hesitation.

I have used A One Van Lines twice so far to assist moving our elderly relatives to assisted living. They were excellent! They worked with us to meet required move in windows, they were extremely courteous, and very careful with some older “delicate” items. I highly recommend them.
Our movers Martin and Mars were great! They were fast and very considerate of our belongings. They asked questions when needed and were kind and professional! I recommend them and A One Van Lines to anyone wanting to have an easy moving experience.

Arrow has been timely, efficient, and upheld the integrity of the furniture and items they’ve moved. I had the pleasure of working with them for several months on end in a corporate setting, and they always exceeded expectations!
Residential move is nerve wrecking but Arrow made is extremely easy and comfortable for me and my family. The owners Gary and Richie to Audi and his team of Joe, Jeff and other 3 boys who were a delight to work with I can’t thank them enough. The moving crew was punctual, pleasant, and extremely professional and always smiling. They did their job diligently and were a pro. I would highly recommend this company for any residential or commercial move, best in the city!!!

How to Choose a Moving Company in Sunset Park
🛡️ Licensing and Authorization
If you’re moving to or from Brooklyn, or moving out of New York, the first thing to do is to make sure that the company is able to operate and be licensed in the state of New York. If you’re moving long-distance or interstate, the company must disclose valid USDOT and MC numbers on their website. Choose a company that is fully licensed, and insured, and take the guesswork away.
📄 Insurance and Valuation
Most moving companies only provide basic coverage, approximately $0.60 per pound, which is not going to be adequate coverage to cover dangerous goods, electronics, artwork, and furniture. Ask your moving company about full-value protection options and the cost. Understanding how your goods are covered upfront will alleviate surprises should something go wrong.
💰 Reliable, Up-Front Estimates
Trustworthy moving companies will always take the time to evaluate your goods either in person or through a video walk-through. Any company that gives you a quote without seeing your home (or at least your living space) should be avoided. Estimates should always be free with no pressure to book.
⭐ Verifiable Reputation
Be sure to conduct thorough research! Look at Google, BBB, and other complaint history if available. You want a mover with a reputation for good communication, delivery on time, a careful approach with your belongings, and a final bill that matches the estimate.
📦 Scope, Access, & Special Requirements
During the walkthrough, point out any narrow hallways, brownstone stairs, elevator rules, loading zone rules, or anything that your building has that is unique. Confirm what services the mover provides, and when they expect to deliver. Access can affect both the cost and timeline.
🚚 Who Actually Performs the Move
Ask if the company will be using trained, employee crews with company trucks or using subcontractors who you have never met. The highest quality moving companies are built around experienced crews that the company has vetted and has trained.
Moving Experts in Brooklyn
At Brooklyn Moving Inc, we’re focused on actually doing the hard work before you ever meet a mover. Our editors and researchers dig down on the details so you’re only ever aware of movers that understand what it is to operate in real NYC conditions, and assurance that they will deliver the service and care you require, creating a working relationship with you and your team. Our lead researcher is Jordan Feldman who specializes in vetting movers in New York local, interstate, and long distance. Jordan and the research team also check their licensing, and insurance, USDOT/MC authority, audit background and history of complaints on multiple platforms including Google, BBB, and Yelp, and determine if moving companies are sending in trained movers, using in-house employees, or simply outsourcing work to sub-contractors.
We are always updating and changing rankings and screening processes to alleviate some of the anxiety and stress of hiring movers in Brooklyn. The job is simple, we will simply provide you with a list of reputable movers who have been vetting so your move will be efficiently organized and taken care of by true NYC professionals.
Our Approach
- Licensing and Authority – We confirm state and federal licensing requirements which include, for interstate moving companies, USDOT/MC numbers. For local New York movers we confirm compliance with the New York State moving authority. We only consider a company if they are fully licensed and insured.
- Sample Size of Authentic Reputation Data – We look for trends in Google reviews, BBB history, complaint ratio, and similar. We look for companies with consistent and discreet communication, reliable delivery times, and complete transparency in billing, all from authentic customer experience.
- Experience in Logistics in NYC – There are unique challenges when moving in Brooklyn, such as tight stairways, old brownstones, tight building requirements and rules, and restricted parking. An experienced mover will demonstrate their familiarity and knowledge in safely moving items up and down stairs, arranging locks for elevators, and following the nuances of the neighborhood.
- Safety Record and Claims History – We look for low damage claims ratios, reputable hauling service policies that are clear and user-friendly, and no accidents recently or in the past. Movers with ongoing claim disputes or open complaints are automatically eliminated.
- In-House Crews vs. Contractors – Companies with certified, trained, and uniformed in-house movers with vetted experience rank higher than movers that rely solely on contractors. We prefer companies that offer stability, training, and crews with background checks.
- Transparency in Pricing Practices – We look at the way in which the estimate is created; we prefer it be based on a video or in-person survey. Movers that provide binding options or not-to-exceed estimates plus line-item pricing (stairs, walk distance, packing, materials, fuel, etc.) rank higher.
- Equipment and Resources – We want to see if the company is owner-occupied (not rented) and how well the company maintains their vehicles, the office, and provides protection items. We want to see a policy of safety in loading/unloading of the truck and efficiency in safeguarding equipment during transit and loading/unloading.
- Commitment to Customer Experience – We measure the responsiveness and transparency from the time of booking to resolving any issues that arise. Companies that are reachable and dealing with the issues in a reasonable and fair manner receive the highest score.
- Community Presence and Longevity – We consider how long the owner has been in business, repeat customers, and connections to the community. Companies built on referral and reputation for years receive preferential ranking.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical cost for a move in Sunset Park?
Cost in Sunset Park hinges on factors such as apartment size, number of stairs, and how much packing assistance you need. The majority of local moves are billed on an hourly basis, therefore, you can expect to pay a few hundred dollars for a small 1-bedroom apartment, and a higher cost for larger homes or walk-up buildings that have multiple flights of stairs – the quote will take into consideration the particulars of your building and inventory.
How far in advance should I book movers?
For weekends or end-of-the-month moves in Sunset Park, it is a good idea to book 2-3 weeks in advance. For a weekday or smaller move, many movers can accommodate you should you reach out 5-7 days ahead of time.
Do movers in Sunset Park deal with walk-ups and tight staircases?
Yes – most movers who service Sunset Park have experience with walk-up buildings, narrow hallways and older layouts. Just make sure to provide details like the number of floors, access to an elevator, and challenging staircases when requesting a quote, so they can properly staff the crew and price it accordingly.
Can I find assistance with packing and unpacking?
Several moving companies in Sunset Park offer to pack everything for the move; they may offer full packing and unpacking services for packing boxes, wrapping, and labeling. They may provide all packing service or just the packing of the kitchen, or just packing fragile items, or maybe just simple labor help, whatever is in your budget and timeline.
What should I tell my building before moving in or out of Sunset Park?
Most buildings in Sunset Park require advance notice of your move, and some will even require making an elevator reservation with an advance of 1 week, and even a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from your moving company. Ask your management or super for their building requirements, including requirements for the moving company and then onward with all the building requirements and planning to the moving company, so they are aware of what to plan for.
